This grower has a photo album.

At Castor River Farm you will find George Wright’s popular rolled and steel-cut oats, as well as a wide variety of other grains such as spelt, rye, buckwheat, barley, and wheat. All grains are milled into flour while you wait.

In addition to freshly milled flour, Castor River Farm features heritage pork, eggs, and chicken, all pasture raised. They provide sausages, ham, bacon, and pepperettes as well as common cuts of pork.

Castor River Farm does not use pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. All electricity for the farm, store, and home is provided by a wind generator and photovoltaic (solar) panels.

Welcome back to the past where farmers produced food without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides because they weren’t invented yet, and where animals spent their days outside eating grass and soaking up the rays. Remember, our grandparents were raised strictly on organic food. There’s nothing fancy about the new food revolution that’s taking place around the world. The focus is just on bringing back the small family farm and on alleviating animal suffering.

Here’s how we attempt to tread lightly on our farm:

We have been generating 100% of our electricity for the house and farm with a wind generator and several photovoltaic panels for 20 years. Most of our vehicles run on used vegetable oil. We do not use pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, growth hormones, or antibiotics.

Most importantly, all of our animals are on green pasture, free to roam many acres, fully exposed to sunlight, fresh air, and love from our three children.
